And so with heavy hearts we left Rakuh-A-Payaman and headed down to Mahatao Lighthouse. It's still something to look forward to though.

The Joy of traveling, seeing and experiencing new places, while being with someone you can share it with
On our second day, we woke up early to go to the town of San Jose De Ivana, which is 14 km. south from the main town of Basco, to catch early boat ride to Sabtang Island. When we finally got to the San Vicente Port, we were told that no boat will be sailing due to strong winds and big waves. So instead of heading back to our lodge, we just did the Batanes Southern tours which were supposedly for the third day. Follow us on Facebook! View the image gallery of this article here Just next to the San Vicente Port and Honesty Cafe, is San Jose De Ivana Church. The second church we visited so far in Batanes. We did not leave right away to other destinations, instead we took our time roaming around the area and immerse in the unique early morning cultures and routines of the Ivatans. Afterwards, we kept moving and head towards the Dakay House. This is probably the most photographed house in Batanes. From the Dakay House, Ate Remy (tour guide) and the driver drove us to the Spanish Bridge which is just along the way going to the next stop. After passing by the Old Spanish Bridge, the driver drove us to Alapad Ranch, passing on the horseshoe-shaped curved roads cut from the stone hills by the sea. After enjoying the scene in Alapad Ranch, Ate Remy and the driver drove us back to the opposite side of Batan, passing through the interior roads until we reach another ranch: Rakuh-A-Payaman or what a certain foreigner who married an Ivatan call it as Marlboro Hills. But we like the sound of its original vernacular name better. We never want to leave the ranch. It's such a wonderful place, where you can feel the spirit of our creator closest to you. Whispering to you through the winds blowing through your ears. You can almost feel his presence in every step you make, feel his breath every time you run against the direction of the winds. Just being there is like being in a state of prayer and communion with God. And so with heavy hearts we left Rakuh-A-Payaman and headed down to Mahatao Lighthouse. It's still something to look forward to though. As a continuation to our prayerful state from the ranch, from the Mahatao Lighthouse we went to the main town of Mahatao to visit San Carlos Borromeo Church. We are almost done with our second day itinerary. We all finished it in the morning and will be able to reach the Lodge back in time for lunch! But before we completely end the second day tour, we dropped by Chawa Viewing Deck which is just along the way. After the sumptuous lunch, we still had time to relax for the earlier part of the afternoon. When the sun has started to go down we went out for a walk at Basco Town Proper. At the heart of the town is the park and municipal hall. Just when we were about to head back to the lodge, something tells us to pass by another street and accidentally found this very artistic shop. We have never guessed where the Ivatan artists are based in this town. We're just happy we found their art gallery. It would have been nice to get in but it was such a bad timing that the shop was closed back then, and we were informed they're having exhibit in SMX Manila at that time. And that concludes our second day, which makes it all the more complete!
